ingredients

The main ingredients for Mysore pak are gram flour (besan), ghee, sugar, and water. Other ingredients that may be added include cardamom and baking soda.

Here are some tips for making Mysore pak:

    • The gram flour

The gram flour is roasted in ghee until it turns golden brown. The nutty flavor and binding properties of the gram flour are essential for the Mysore pak’s signature crumbly yet melt-in-your-mouth texture.

    • The sugar syrup

The sugar syrup balances the sweetness and texture of the Mysore pak.

  • The mixing process

The mixture thickens and absorbs the ghee and sugar syrup, forming a cohesive blend.

  • The cooling

After removing the mixture from heat, let it cool slightly and roll it into a ball. If the ball is sticky, the mixture is undercooked.

  • The cutting

Once the Mysore pak has firmed up, cut it into squares or lines with a sharp knife or pizza cutter.

  • The storing
Store the Mysore pak in an airtight container at room temperature. It will stay fresh for up to a week, but it’s best to eat it within the first few days.
