Gavvalu is a traditional Indian sweet from Andhra Pradesh made from a dough of flour and water or milk, and shaped into the shape of cowrie shells. The ingredients for gavvalu are: All-purpose flour (maida), Ghee, Water or milk, Sugar syrup, and Cardamom powder. 

The dough is shaped into small rounds, flattened, and rolled on a special tool to take the shape of gavvalu. The gavvalu is then deep-fried and mixed in sugar syrup.

Bellam Gavvalu or Teepi Gavvalu are the traditional Andhra sweet-snack food that brings glory to festive occasions.
